Draymond Green, a forward for the Golden State Warriors, was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Thursday night for using inappropriate language at a fan. Tuesday’s game between Golden State and the Mavericks ended with 11:20 left in the fourth quarter.
Green is no stranger to league punishment; each season, he is among the players who receive the most penalties and technical fouls. Although it is unknown what the fan said to Draymond to prompt him to respond in a way the league felt was inappropriate, he has now been fined $25,000 for his actions.
Despite losing to Mavericks in that matchup, the Warriors had a chance to grab a victory away from home. The club had very tough times playing away from home, mainly because they couldn’t move up the standings. The Warriors, of course, plan to contend for another title this year, but they will first need to address their road issues before the Western Conference further separates the top teams from the rest of the pack.
The Warriors are no exception to the West’s dismal performance this season. Despite being dominant at home, the squad has had a lot of difficulty traveling, losing to Dallas on Tuesday. The team will return to Golden State with a loss, and Draymond Green, their defensive captain, will be out $25,000 due to his interaction with a supporter.
