The NBA announced Monday that they had penalized Los Angeles Clippers forward Marcus Morris Sr. for using derogatory language toward a game official.
The incident reportedly occurred `after the Clippers’ 128-115 loss to Minnesota on January 6, according to the league.
Although the exact words Morris used are unknown, it is clear that what he said was sufficient to catch the attention of the NBA and Joe Dumars, who serves as the Head of Basketball Operations and the NBA’s Executive Vice President.
After about 25 minutes of play, Morris had a final tally of 12 points and two steals.
Being fined or given a technical foul has never surprised Marcus Morris because he is a very outspoken athlete.
Morris assessed seven technical fouls overall in 54 games last season and has already matched that total this year.
Morris, who has participated in 39 games this season, has averaged 13 points, four rebounds, and 38 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
With a record of 21–21 this season, the Clippers are currently tied with the Golden State Warriors for the sixth seed in the Western Conference.
The next matchup between Marcus Morris and Los Angeles and Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks will take place on Tuesday at home.
