Jalen Williams, a rookie in the NBA, has climbed one rank to No. 7 after an intense week for the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Williams, who was selected by Oklahoma City, the 12th overall choice in the first round, has already surpassed all preseason projections for him, but he keeps improving.
Williams has scored 13.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists over the past week, including a 15-point, 9-rebound effort against the Spurs on Tuesday that was interspersed with a number of mind-blowing plays.
In only 27.4 minutes per game this season, Williams is scoring 11.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.7 assists. He has established himself as the Thunder’s go-to scorer and is expected to continue assuming more and more offensive duties as his career advances.
This season, he is shooting 51.0 percent from the field and 27.0 percent from three, but both are rising weekly.
On the rookie ladder, Williams is positioned between Jalen Duren of Detroit at No. 6 and AJ Griffin of Atlanta at No. 8.
Paolo Banchero of Orlando is in the first place, followed by Bennedict Mathurin of Indiana and Jaden Ivey of the Pistons in second and third place, respectively.
At 7 p.m., Williams and the Thunder resume play against the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday.
