What is Basketball
Basketball is a sport played among two teams of five players each, usually on an indoor rectangular court. Each team will attempt to score by tossing the ball into the opponent’s goal, a tall horizontal hoop, and a net, also known as a basket.
Who invented basketball
Basketball was invented on December 1, 1891, by James Naismith, a physical education instructor at the Training School in International Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) in Springfield, Massachusetts. Basketball is the only major sport that originates strictly in the United States (even though Naismith was born in Canada).
